BREAKING NEWS:
Billy is being featured in anew group led by blues guitar great, Duke Robillard, called "Sunny and the Joy Boys." The unusual 1930's sounding quintet features Duke, Billy and vocalist Sunny Crownover. They will be soon recording their first CD for the Stony Plain label.
John Sayles' latest movie, "Honey Drippers." will be opening in January. Mason Daring composed the score, and Billy wrote some of the songs that appear in the film. It's a great movie (well, I certainly liked it), set in the Deep South in 1950, and deals with the birth of rhythm and blues, among other things. Danny Glover stars in it, with a cast that includes Stacy Keach and guitar phenom Keb Mo.
INTERESTING FACTOID:
Did you ever listen to some over-produced pop music and wonder where they get the fake, sampled sounds of the horn sections?
Well, me neither (the "me" here is Billy).
BUT, if you are interested, my alto sax, soprano sax and clarinet playing has been sampled for the Big Fish audio library. This is the second time I have been asked to record for a sample library. It's pretty cool. From what I've been told, my sax sound fron the first library has been used in everything from Janet Jackson recordings to background music for Finnerty Real Estate Agency commercials in Topeka,.
Not that I've ever get a dime from Janet Jackson or a piece of property in Kansas, but it's still kind of cool!
